Conjunctivitis - how do I get the drops in my 3yeard olds eyes!!

Help, my daughter will absolutely not let me put drops in her eyes. I have to chase her first, put her in a headlock and then try and prise her eyes open. By this stage she's crying and I end up putting drops into closed eyes! I tried bribery with sweets but this is not working now. I've tried doing it with her sitting next to me looking up but she flinches and moves all the time.

Are there any old fashioned remedies that don't involve drops that might work, or anyone got any tips at all? The longer she resists the longer she stays off nursery!

I just had to do this with my 3yo. I resorted to bribery, A small square of chocolates per eye.

I think there is another form they come in - a lotion or gel??? - which is easier.

Eye drops and children - NIGHTMARE!!!!

My GP gave me a good tip actually. Tell dd to lie down and close her eyes, put the drops in the corner of her closed eyes, count to 3 and tell her to open them, as she opens them they go in her eye.

This is the best way of getting them in we found. Chocolate as a bribe too.

You can do at least one application when they're asleep.

the lotion is easier

I've tried the lotion before - the one that has to go under the lower lid and I think this is worse. I like the close eyes and open them in 3 seconds idea - this might work - I'll try in the morning!
