DD was at a&e yesterday with another high temp of 40. She seems to get everything and anything at the moment Sad.

Following advice she has a throat and ear infection we are treating her with Calpol and Ibuprofen. (Antibiotics would not work apparently.) Thing is that she has a very sore and husky throat as I can hear when she cries etc. It sounds very very sore. What can we do..? How can we help ease it?

We have increased her milk feeds as she is off her food so we also giving her lots of fluids.

Help as we are desperate for a nights sleep or at least a few hours!!

calpol with sugar in it, will help to coat and sooth her throat.
How about a chest cough syrup which would also coat and soothe her throat. am off to trawl the books for you...
Ice lolly made of apple juice?

\link{http://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/medicines/medicines/t/tixylix/tixylix_baby_syrup.htm\here} the glycerol in it should help to coat and sooth her throat.

or cube of sugar free jelly dissolved in hot water as a special treat, hope you get some sleep soon

i've been giving my ds buttercup syrup infant - it's blackcurrant flavor so pleasant tasting and it's the only thing we have found that helped relieve his sore throat, it's so difficult as they are unable to tell you!

aww bless you chapsmum. Thanks. xx
Tonight we have already given her the medicine that you gave a link to, thought it would help her cough but suppose that should help her throat as well.

I tried an icelolly this afternoon, home made from orange juice but she wasn't keen on the lolly part. She sucked on it a little but suppose its a new texture etc.

She is sparked out at the moment so I may be joining her. Just hate the fact that you think you are gonna get a few hrs sleep and she wakes in 20 mins [arrgghh emotion]..!!!!

yes i think it is sorry, although mainly i think it depends on weight as i had it recommended at 10.5 months for ds
