Fast acting fix for (TMI) Constipation??

Hello everyone, embarrassing issues I'm afraid..

Been taking codein based meds for a bad knee which is now improving but the side effect has been a slowing (stopping) of any movement in the loo department, its been 3 days and getting bloated!

I'm at home a good part of today, what could i take that would work quite quickly to get things moving today?? The usual fruit and orange juice dosn't seem to be working!

Whats best for a fast working really effective (TMI) flush out?? I don't usually have issues in this area!

I need something to work today as I'm traveling over the weekend so not convenient for the loo!

Long walk, coffee or visit your GP and get some Movocal which is a safe and affective answer.

Exercise, water and fruit. Avoid white bread etc.

I too am on codeine. Have reduced the dose as pain of tummy was worse than original pain.

My mum swears by prunes. YUK!

I found lactulose good!

Copella Apple Juice. You need to drink the majority of a 750 ml bottle but by the Christ it'll go through you.
I learned this the hard way.

OK - for a quick fix I would go for glycerin suppositories, - you'll certainly shift some of it within an hour if not quicker. - They'll be in the chemist with the laxitives etc.

Then keep going with the fruit and fluids. Movicol is good for longer term, but takes a couple of days to get going IME. Also licorice is supposed to be good - that natural panda licorice you get in health stores.

Codeine meds are a bugger for making you constipated, - I sympathise, hope you feel better soon.

Prunes and exercise. Good luck.

Bran flakes works for me.
