Have you had a baby at some point?
I had back problems about a year after giving birth and took myself off to see a chiropractor. Turns out my pelvis was out of alignment and causing all sorts of other issues. He said it's common after pregnancy/childbirth and I now know of at least 3 other people who have had the same problem.

6 months on I wouldn't say I am totally pain free, but I am most days and I can manage it. I only see chiro every couple of months now (as opposed to weekly/fortnightly at the beginning)

Yes, my kids are primary school age though.

I went to the GP today and she suspects that I have a problem with my hip that is referring through my pelvis and knocking into my SI joint and in turn causing my sciatica. I've been refered for an X-Ray and from there to physio.

It all is really rather owee.

I might give a chiropractor a call whilst waiting on the physio.

I have had several issues with same part of my back and it flared up during my 2nd pregnancy. I found a sports physio who did acupressure. They use it because it relieves pain very quickly. I had 3 sessions in one week and was able to walk again pain free. I had been passing out from the pain. I swear by it and would recommend it to anyone.
