Hi my blood test has come back showing positive for thyroid and esr? I don't want to google too much, I went about feeling run down and having bad headaches.

Anyone any experiennce of underactive thyroid? Symptoms, medication, side effects etc?

Thanks

Positive meaning what, did the doc say you are underactive? Your test should show hormone levels, either higher or lower than normal.
If it's underactive, don't worry too much. in most cases, underactive thyroid is easy to manage with thyroxine, just a small pill once per day and you should feel a lot better. Thyroid issues raise ESR too, that's normal.

Thanks hazle! Yes its underactive, will the medication affect my weight, I'm overweight now and find it hard to lose weight. I'm not seeing the doctor about it for another 3 weeks so just wanted some general information from anyone with experience.

Underactive thyroid does indeed make it easier to gain weight so yes, the medication should help, depending on how off your levels are at the moment.

I've the same problem :(
Hope we're going to solve the problem with just the one tablet a day :(

I had a thyroid dip but by the time I got to see anyone again the levels had started to rise and I was feeling better! It's v common a few months after having a baby apparently but often misdiagnosed as PND and expected fatigue.
Try and get a test done once you are feeling better so you can compare drops/ rises in future.
