What is wrong with me? Palpitations, racing heart...

The last week or so, I have had palpitations/racing heart/feeling sicky after I have eaten. Have had diarrhoea in the middle of the night a couple of times but no vomiting - though I felt so bad last night that I tried to make myself sick, about 2am, but couldn't do it.

It usually happens after eating - often, when I have been out to eat. Haven't had too much to drink so can't be that.

I have had to sleep sitting up on the couch in the lounge twice in the last week because I feel sick when I lie down. Last night it was horrible - my heart was banging away really hard - could see my whole chest move; really odd - for about 2 hours before it calmed down and I could sleep.

A couple of times it's been after having just 2-3 haribo sweets - could it be something to do with the sugar?? I can't drink squash as it makes my heart race and my hands shake; I can't drink coffee at all for the same reason. What do you think??

Normally I have iron guts so to feel like this on and off for a week is scary.

I have also been working really hard - am freelance and have been trying to race to finish all my work before the kids are off school, and a lot has come in over the last two weeks (typical) - could this have anything to do with it??

I am quite an anxious person anyway. I have been thinkig about going to see my GP but don't know what she would do/suggest.

Thank you if you can help.

I don't want to alarm you, but these are common symptoms of diabetes and I really think you should go to your GP. It is probably nothing more than stress and/or a virus, but your Dr should really make that judgement.
