Housemaid's knee? Any tips? (NOT caused by too much scrubbing of floors, I might add)

My left knee has been inflamed for a few days. It is red, bit swollen, sore to the touch (and VERY painful to kneel on) also quite hot. Apparently it may be housemaid's knee/bersisus(?).

I'm taking ibuprofn to try to reduce inflamation but wondered if anyone has had any experience of this and has any tips.

TIA.

Get an appointment with the GP as soon as you can to get it checked out.

When my dad had bursitis the GP's advice was to keep the leg raised, use an ice-pack on the knee and take regular doses of Ibuprofen for a week. When that didn't work he had steriod injections into the joint - when that didn't work either the GP drained the fluid from around the joint.

Ye gods, that sounds a bit serious.

Thanks, WWB

Sounds nasty.

But you've got to be just a little bit amused by having a condition which is positively Victorian! Grin
