Want advice...

Have got a viral infection which is causing me to have bad coughing fits. Unfortunate side effect is that my pelvis floor seems to give up when have big coughing fit and I wee a lot - can't seem to stop it happening even if go to loo regularly.

Saw GP yesterday and was told to do pelvis floor exercises. But I need advice on what to do now, as that's not going to work straight away is it?

Is there any kind of pads out there that will hold a lot of wee, as san pads only seem to hold so much, before I leak and wet myself. Really need to get it sorted, as worried about going anywhere at mo in case have an accident. Dreading being at work next week in case I have bad coughing fit and wet myself.

Thanks for your input.

You need to tighten down there sweety, squeeze inside at random times and for random lenghts of time, do it regularly, 5/6 times a day at least, (without scruntching your face up). Also practive stopping/ starting again when weeing (NOT easy).
I did this A good friend of mine did this after DC3's birth and it worked pretty quickly. Good luck!

Don't stop and start mid stream more than once just to get the feeling of doing it right- or you can get an infection/kidney problems from this.

There's a great book by an Aussie physio which you can buy online- an ebook do it's emailed pretty quickly and she will also answer any questions you post on her forum.

www.pelvicfloorexercise.com.au/products/insideout.htm buy it here for about £12.

The pelvic floor exercises actually do work amazingly quickly if you persevere over a number of days.

Use the tena lady pads when you need, but actually your bad cough has just highlighted that you need to work on your pelvic floor muscles. it's a really common condition.

I have bladder prolapse and notice a really painful dull ache in my pelvis when I have to be on my feet for long periods. Simply tightening up my pelvic muscles and holding that tension for maybe 8 seconds (repeated 8 times, 4 times a day) truly helps.

I'm sure your GP can refer you to a physiotherapist for more specialised exercises.
