here goes.
went to a mums & toddler this morning with DS who is distinctly under the weather - mainly because I couldn't face the thought of being in all day with no adult conversation. Chickenpox is rife here at the moment but as yet he has no spots. there was a very Pg lady there & I know that C'pox is not good in later preganancy. We didn't talk really and I don't think DS went that close to her. I'm now concerned that if DS does turn out to have Cp she should know - or am I over reacting & would it worry her un-necessarily? TRivial I know but am obsesing about it........

wouldnt worry
if chickenpox is rife in your area
anyone can pass it on
not just your ds

do not worry -- you don't know if he has it and she is responsible for assessing her risk of expsoure to all sorts of germs when she goes into toddler groups...

I was exposed to chicken pox when I was pregnant and found out by accident. I was pretty p'd off about it as I didn't have it as a child and as a result needed my immunity checked (simple and quick blood test). In the event I had a natural immunity so it was OK but if I didn't then I could have had treatment to protect me and my baby. Upshot is, in answer to your question I would tell her.

Chicken pox in adults can be VERY nasty.

thanks - guess I'm just in a slightly hormonal over reacting mood cos DS isn't 100%.
Will try & calm down now!!

chicken pox takes two weeks to germinate. if DS hasn't developed spots within a week or so, (since he's already under the weather) he's CP clear! if he does you could tell her, but she may have already been exposed to it elsewhere. Try not to worry, you are not in control of these things., so you're not resonsible, take care

P.S. I had chicken pox as an adult (24) and , yes, it is nasty, but nature will take its course and its nobody's fault, so don't worry hun x
