Heavy period- should I worry?

This is my second period since dd was born 10 months ago. It started on day 32, and from memory my cycles between coming off pill and conceiving were around 31 days. Last period was normal in comparison with my memory. I have been pretty lucky to have fairly light, though longish periods.

Today is day 3 and I am changing pads every hour. I'm using pads that I've only ever had to use for post-birth bleeding, so quite thick. Bleeding is accompanied by consistent period pain (aching, dragging feeling) over last three days, though it usually only lasts one.

Because of these differences and the amount of blood, I'm wondering if I should start to worry, or when I should start to worry if it doesn't ease up?

I wouldn't worry about it but maybe put a plan together. Ie take some pain killers for the uncomfortable feeling, watch the flow of blood, if there is gushing then I'd be tempted to go to drs. Rest, give it till the morning and then reassess.

If your really concerned and live in the uk you could phone Nhs direct for advice.

See your GP- might be hormone imbalance and heavy periods can respond to medication.
