My 5.5 month old daughter hasnt ever been sick. And shes not sick now...i dont think. but i'm not sure. for the last couple of days she has been really fussing before going down for her naps. She has been waking in the night but generally just moaning and groaning or even chatting before going back to sleep.

Now, today i'm not sure if she has discovered that she can 'cough' at will....or if in fact she is actually coughing for real. So lets say for argument sake she has a real cough. Her nose is clear (maybe slightly runny but not blocked) and she certainly has no fever. Do I just chill? If in fact she is sick, this would be the first time so I'm really not sure what to do. She is a bit grizzly but seems fine. just a bit out of sorts. thanks

yes my ds used to have a fake cough, he still does actually (he's one)
I think with the symptoms you describe I wouldn't bother going to the GP.
Try giving her a bit of calpol and see if it affects the grizzliness... it could be that she is in a bit of pain

i think i would err on the side of caution and see the gp.

If she doesn't have a temperature and is feeding ok I wouldn't worry. Ds found that he could make a sort of coughing noise at this age and kept doing it to amuse himself. The difference then between that and a real cough is that they don't do it at night.
See how she is tomorrow?

POSSUM, trust your instinct if you relly think your bub is unwell go to the docs, If you think shes at it, its the tickle monster for that girl!!!

Know what youmeaan though, my wee chap has a cough and a temp, and I have held off seeing the gp cause I really dont think he could do anything at the moment, he is otherwise well eating and drinking, playing like a maniac etc. It is such a responsibility to decide not to go though...
