No I have't got cp but poor ds has spots everywhere.

Nothing seems to stop him being quite distressed at times by the itching. He was up most of the night despite piriton.

Have tried zirtek this am,no help.Piriton this pm ,he's sleeping fitfully in the couch but wakes up every ten minutes or so crying .

He has spots in his eyelashes,in his ear canal ,lips, everywhere!!

I'm going to try a bath with oats later and am waiting for dh to get home with some calamine cream.Anyone have any miracle cures ??

Have you tried Arnica tablets? Little boy i used to nanny for had really bad cp. His mum got tabs from Holland & Barratt. Just check with them first but it cleared up in no time.
How old ds?

brimfull · 01/03/2006 15:30

ds is 3.5 yrs.

Should be fine. They were 18months and 2.5yo.
I find its the best thing for all sorts of ailments. Bumps, bruises etc.

brimfull · 01/03/2006 15:41

thanks ,will try and get out to get some tomorrow

We tried baths with bicarbonate of soda in - that seemed to help. That combined with piriton and calamine lotion.

bundle · 01/03/2006 15:57

calmaine in aqueous cream quite good as it doesn't rub off so easily

brimfull · 01/03/2006 16:35

great any more

We used Eurax - you can get it over the counter and it is better than calomine lotion. My mum has had shingles and we gave her what was left in the bottle and she says it helped. It does not make the pain go away but makes it slightly more bearable. Do feel for your ds, my dd had it really badly too and you feel so helpless when they beg you to stop it hurting Sad.

EURAX!!!!!!

Its fab. You can also give piriton syrup too.

But seriously - Eurax is THE best thing ive tried for this.

brimfull · 01/03/2006 18:10

eurax it is then!

Will check tomorrow if it's ok for nut allergy.

thanks

I've got him on that staring today controlfreaky, just about to give him his second dose,or maybe I should wait until bedtime.Does it work for a good length of time?

He did seem calmer after taking it this am ,can't recall how long it seemed to help though?

DD has peanut allergy and she was fine with it.

MarsOnLife · 01/03/2006 21:08

do you have any benedryl? Fantastic stuff!

meganandlucymummy · 01/03/2006 21:25

These tips are great - anymore?
Sorry for the hijack).

My DD1 aged 25months has woken up with chicken pox today too. Like ggirl's son spots everywhere - in her hair, in her ears, nose, eyes and down below. She breaks her heart everytime she pees it hurts so much.

Also I have a 4month old DD2. She has no spots yet but is totally breastfed so does anyone know might she be protected by my antibodies?

x

meganandlucymummy · 01/03/2006 21:30

Does anyone know is it safe to give Srnica and rhus tox? Thanks x

Polgara2 · 01/03/2006 21:32

We found Piriton useless but Benedryl was effective (but dd1 said it made her feel funny?? so she wouldn't have it again!!) Best cream we found was Tea Tree and Witch Hazel by Lanes. Bit smelly but was by far the most effective on the itching front. And dd1 had it really, really bad Sad.

brimfull · 01/03/2006 22:10

thanks for all the tips.

ds is soooo fractious he won't let anyone touch him!

I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.day 3 tomorrow.

he really doesn't know what to do with himself, sleeping fitfully at the moment.

Sorry just had to have a moan.
