Microgynon - not taking a break between packets

Does anyone know whether it's safe to run 3 packets of Microgynon together? I've already skipped my break between current and last packet but DH is on holidays next week and I want to do things like take the kids swimming without being lumbered with my period so can I now go straight to a 3rd blister of pills without putting myself at risk of blood clots or something?

As a further question - I fairly regularly take two packets without a break and know it's okay to do it occasionally but wonder whether there's another pill more suited to the fact that I just don't want periods?! Grin

Thanks!

I am on the injection. I don't get periods. The only trouble is, some people get spotting the whole way through, and there's no way to tell which type you will be without trying it. Although if you generally do well on hormonal contraceptives then you will likely react well to the injection.

I always had no periods when I ran two packs of pills together, but 3 seemed to be too many and I got small spotting. Not as bad as a full period though.

I personally used to run 3 packets together
With out a break and never had any problems. Have you tried the mini pill? A lot of people don't have periods on it?

Yes I used to regularly take 2 packs of Microgynon together (with the blessing of the family planning clinic)and occasionally a third pack too. Mainly because of awful pain/heavy bleeding. Spotting more likely the more packs you take but I never had any.

There is a significant risk of blood clots with the combined pill anyway, but AFAIK it is not changed by taking more packs together.

There are some pills 'promoted' as meaning less bleeds, an appt with a family planning clinic is probably your best bet because they are mostly MUCH better than GPs for contraception.

I used to quite often. Occasionally some spotting but not till towards end of third pack

It's fine I only take maybe 3 or 4 breaks a year.

Thank you ... We'll plan the trip to the pool for early on in the week then Grin. Shall look into pill alternatives!

I've been on Microgynon 30 for a few years not and for the last 18m I've been taking each blister pack straight after each other with no 7-day breaks after each pack.

Admittedly, I have had breakthrough bleeding and the last bleed lasted for over 4wks, which was normal for me. Saying that, you may get away with it, although, having been on the Depo jabs for over 2yrs, they stopped my periods and they never came back until I started the pill with the 7-day break.

That was meant to be now. Would help if my fingers would stop going 100mph on the keyboard.
