Earache from hell - could there be anything else wrong with me?

I have had earache for 48 hours now - I am in agony. It's pretty much up there with labour (I'm really not exaggerating - I feel desperate).

I've been given anti-biotic earspray and tablets by the doc yesterday afternoon.

I've given up on straight paracetamol and gone for co-codamol, though I have to say it is not working. The painkillers haven't taken even the edge off. Im sorry for whinging but I'm in agony - the side of my face has swollen up. I cant close my mouth as the pressure on my jaw hurts.

Are there any more painkillers I can take?
Could it be anything else?

Sorry - its a moan really but feeling quite desperate. I wish this was labour - at least the pain is positive!

Please get some proper advice about this - not a good idea to let ear ache linger on. It needs to be looked at again - I don't want to frighten you, but please contact your GP, or go along to your nearest Walk in Centre. Better to be safe than sorry!

Could it be tooth related? I would ring OOH if I were you.

You need strong antibiotics to get rid of it. I have had earache and it is awful. I currently have a blocked saliva gland which runs along your jawline and feels like earache. You can't eat or talk properly as it hurts! Have you got antibiotics?

An antibiotic spray will do nothing for a swollen face. Get yourself seen by a doctor.

Get ye back to your Doctor, my mum had a list of antibiotics that did and didn't work for my DSIS.
Ear ache is hell and needs effective treatment.

Phone NHS Direct, get someone to come out to you if necessary. Do it now.

I used to get lots of ear infections. In my experience it takes two days for the antibiotics to really kick in. It is the most excruciating pain.
