Today I went to the Dr as I have been under stress recently. Mainly caused by two toddlers, but generally I am not feeling on top of things. I moved a year ago with the family and whilst it is best for the entire family (space, schools etc), I have found it very isolating and lonely. I have no life apart from family living and it's finally hit me hard. I've suffered headaches and feel cold, tired and sad.

The Dr prescribed blood tests and said that I should move....WTF! This doctor is disinterested at the best of times and I have since discovered that others refuse to see him any more.

I have been treated by a Chinese Dr who is using acupuncture and some herbal tablets to help calm me.

Has anyone had success with Chinese therapy?

I haven't tried Chinese herbal medicine or acupuncture but after a few bad experiences with GPs recently it's something I'm considering. I rarely go to the doctors but unfortunately have had to over the past years or so and have left feeling as though the GPs (I've seen a few) had no empathy and actually didn't know what was wrong with me despite prescribing medication. I've felt like they are guessing and then your hear the old familiar 'if this doesn't work then come back'.

In the past I've known friends who have also felt fobbed off by their GP and have turned to Chinese Herbal medicine with great success- both conditions were cleared up completely.

How long have you been on the herbal tablets Whizkid?

*year or so

Not long but my headaches have gone, but I am unsure if this is from the Chinese medicine or the beta blockers. I have been using both.

I am now going to continue Chinese treatment for stress. I know my body is not functioning properly, and the GP didn't seem to care less.

My friend had nearly a year of useless Western medicine for fibromyalgia then she tried acupuncture She swears by it and they really helped her so it really does work

Be careful. Tell your Dr and check the ingredients, you do not want to be eating rhino horn.

Things that work usually cross over to western medicine, acupuncture has. But I'm lucky, my GP does acupuncture.

Yes, do make sure there are no drug/herb interactions between your Chinese herbs and your conventional medicine. You should have told your Chinese medicine practitioner that you were on beta blockers, and they should have made sure there would be no issues, but it's still advisable to check.
