Hi - my 80 year old very active father is having surgery for haemmoroids in a few weeks. He is terrified and worried about the pain and aftercare etc. Because of his age they are going to keep him in hospital for 2-3 days after.

Does anyone have experience of this surgery, recovery times etc. I don't live near him and was thinking of flying over to help but not sure whether during or after and at waht stage would be best. My youngest brother lives with my dad but is a manchild nad my eldest brother will help out but works long hours and also I don't want all the burden to fall on them.

have read some horror tales of the pain on the web this morning- so any sgae advice on here would be very gratefully received.

Thanks
