Quick question about taking the pill

I somehow thought I had another month's worth of contraceptive pills which I was due to start taking again after the break last night and found I actually had none left. So I took my repeat prescription to the docs today and to cut a long story short haven't been able to get it signed to get them today. So I'll start a new pack tomorrow when I finally get them from the pharmacy. I'd just doubled-up the previous two packs before taking a break; am I going to send doo-lally or will this be ok? Also am I correct in thinking after two weeks we'll be ok for sex without a condom?
Thanks in advance for any replies :-)

I don't think it'll mess up you cycle as it is only two days and from memory other contraception required for 7 days. Should find exact info in patient information leaflet in the packet with your pill.

A missed pill in the first 7 days of the packet is high risk for pregnancy. If you have had unprotected sex since you last took a pill, and are now late starting your next packet there is a chance that you will conceive. A missed pill could allow you to ovulate, and any sperm hanging about could meet that egg. The safest thing to do now would be to use condoms till your period comes, then start the pill again then. However, if you do start taking your pills ASAP you are covered after 7 days. Whatever you do if your next period is late you need to do a pg test.

For future reference, your pharmacist should be able to give you an emergency supply without a prescription, though you will need to give them a script ASAP.

Not had sex since I last took a pill.
The only time in 12 years I stopped taking it (which was the plan!) I never had a period and was extremely lucky in that I conceived after just 2 months of stopping taking it.

bonzo's advice isn't strictly accurate - if you took all the pills in your last packet properly then you are covered on your pill free week, so you would be covered until last night when you should have taken the first pill of your new packet.

Taking the previous two packets back-to-back makes no difference to how protected you are now; if you have had a pill free week then if you don't start your new packet on time you are not covered from the time you should have started your pills.

If you haven't had sex since the end of the pill free week (ie yesterday) then you are ok to start your new pills tomorrow (you don't have to wait until your period) but remember you aren't protected for the first 7 days of your new pills and need to avoid sex or use condoms reliably for those 7 days.

What sidge+bonzo said, except that I was in this situation yesterday, went to my usual chemist, and they phoned the GP and was told they wouldn't prescribe any more without seeing me and the pharmacist said he wasn't allowed to give me a few pills to tide me over.

However if I needed emergency contraception he could give me that. Apparently only post-shag counts as an emergency...

Spent very boring afternoon waiting in walkin clinic for 3 1/2 hours instead.
