I have an IUD, am now feeling like utter crap during ovulation

I?ve had a copper coil in for about 8 months now. It?s made my periods a bit heavier and I?ve had a few extra twinges before AF arrives but other than that it?s been fine. What?s interesting though is that for the first time since I was 19 I?m having normal cycles having spent 10 years on the pill followed by two pregnancies which were conceived almost immediately after stopping contraception.

I?m now pretty in tune with when I ovulate and keep an eye on CM etc. and I?ve noticed that some months I ?feel? more fertile than others ? more CM, some ovulation pain and the inevitable randiness Blush. This month is one of those months but I also feel dreadful with it ? tired, more ovulation pain than normal, my IBS is playing up, my muscles are aching, I have no energy etc. etc. Yesterday I struggled to keep my eyes open and couldn?t concentrate. Today I feel somewhat better buthave lost my appetite, I just don?t fancy any food (unheard of for me, except during early pregnancy!). I have a very dull ache low down in my tummy today, not painful, it?s just there.

I don?t think I?m coming down with anything - I don?t feel ill per se, just crapola and I wondered if anyone else had experienced this during ovulation? Is it likely to be anything to do with the IUD? I will speak to my GP if it continues but don?t want to do that straight away.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The IUD causes a constant state of inflammation in the pelvic area which your body is struggling to deal with and constantly trying to heal. My copper coil caused chronic lower back pain, tiredness, general grottiness and heavy periods. Once I had it removed the problems went away. Try taking some ibuprofen to settle things down. Hope you feel better soon.
