Sore Breasts - why?

TMI warning

I have sore / slightly larger (I think?) breasts.
However, I had my period ~ 2 weeks ago and it wasn't bleeding like I had when I was pregnant with my two daughters - it was a real period, week long clots, etc. I have NOT had sex since then. I have been sore for about a week and am at a total loss as to why. Everything I read says hormonal so if not pregnant that it could be PMS - but I have never had anything like this before and isn't it too early? I am not regular - I got anywhere from 3 1/2 to 5 weeks but usually towards the longer end of that scale.

Any ideas?

With regards to the sore breasts this could be a simple bra size problem. Either (even slightly) too small, big or straps are too tight or loose.

I did go down a size in my bra at the beginning of the week but I did so because the next size up is too large. Obviously way to large-- but after a week I went back to my old bra's and they seem less large. This is completely unscientific, and I may be imagining these results. Or so my mind is thinking. I even just took a test (albeit in the afternoon) - and it was negative. I feel like I am going crazy.
