colposcopy this afternoon - hold my hand please!

got a colposcopy this afternoon as have uterine polyps and am very nervous. has anybody else had this and can tell me what to expect? are there any restrictions to what i can do after and will there be any bleeding? i am menopausal and havent had a period in over a year
can i please have some mums net hugs as have no support in real life

I'be had 4 colposcopies over the past few years (not for the same thing though, mine was for abnormal smear results). I've found them to be uncomfortable, but not painful.

Last time they removed some cells, which they did with a local anaesthetic (imagine they'd do the same for removal of polyps).

I've always found that the nurses are great, they keep you chatting so you don't worry about what's going on, and there ms a big screen which they'll tilt towards you if you want to see (I'm not squeamish so don't mind having a look!) or away from you if you don't want to!

I usually find I'm a bit crampy for the rest of the day, then on and off for a few days, so would advise taking it easy if you can.

Hi Zoe, it wasn't a colonoscopy it was a colposcopy for uterine polyps. As it was it didn't happen at the hospital. They gave me an appointment for day surgery instead. So now we wait...
