My dd1 nearly four is I think incredibly lazy, she balks at the idea of having to walk anywhere and looks for a "carry" more often than not.
I must confess that we are not the most active of families erring more to indoor games than outdoor walks and travel by car everywhere, so I know it is partly our fault
However lately she's been complaining of pains in her legs and at the base of her back, but then seems quite capable of her ballet class and play at pre-school. We've had a lot of sickness in this house lately and at last visit to the doctor I had her check her over but all clear.
I suppose I don't want to ignore something if it is amiss but what could it be..........growing pains ?????

Thought growing pains were a myth until my mum told me that I used to get them in the evenings when I was about 5. Also asked hv about them and she agreed that they are real and to give dd a leg massage when / if she ever got them.

My DD and DS both suffer a bit from sore legs and reluctance to walk anywhere. They are both flat footed. When I took them to a podiatrician to get inserts for their shoes he did say that children who are reluctant to walk any great distance probably have some form of feet/gait problems.

In DD and DS case he said that the misalignment in the joints caused by the flat feet would cause quite severe pain in the foot, at the knee, through the upper part of the leg (hamstrings) and into the back. I did feel pretty awful at forcing them to walk when they wanted to be carried!!

Has she always been a reluctant walker or is this something new.
