I have the same and I can't hear and now it is hurting my teeth!I have had it forever too

NotQuiteCockney · 24/02/2006 20:12

If it's in that little trough bit between your jawbone and your ear, it's a swollen gland.

Enid · 24/02/2006 20:12

also cant hear

shit isnt it

maybe inflamed tissue... sorry i made that up...I only get a lump on one side with swollen glands

MistressMary · 24/02/2006 20:14

Lymph nodes are fighting that infection maybe and your eustachian tubes blocked.
Try the olbas oil in bowl with boiled water and let the steam work it's magic.

alliebaba · 24/02/2006 20:15

that's more like it.. lymph nodes are a type of gland aren't they?

MistressMary · 24/02/2006 20:17

Yep. Doing it in anatomy and physiology at the moment.

milward · 24/02/2006 20:18

Once had something like this & needed to have a wisdom tooth out as an emergency! - ahhhh. Hope you don't have this!

interstella · 24/02/2006 20:21

Does sound like Eustacian tube(between ear and throat).Try inhalation aand squeezing/pinching between 3rd and fourth toes, sort of pulling upwards.

7up · 24/02/2006 21:02

neuralgia

spacecadet · 24/02/2006 21:12

if youve had the cold thats doing the rounds, chances are you have catarrh in your eustachain tube and your gland is a little swollen, also you can get referred pain from your ear.

spacecadet · 24/02/2006 21:13

lots of steam!

Enid · 24/02/2006 21:32

christ I will go pop if I steam my head anymore

I have the most fabulous skin though due to to thrice daily steaming sessions

its bloody painful have taken paracetamol and codeine

It is your eustation tube enid! it drains fluid away fromyour ears. Have you been oiling like i told you???

spacecadet · 24/02/2006 22:38

fwiw, ive got a blocked ear, the relic of that vile cold, i had a week or so ago, my ear feels like it will explode and im even deafer than before!, i too can boast fab skin from living with my face in the facial sauna!

spacecadet · 24/02/2006 22:40

it is painful, can only say keep steaming, have you put any olbas oil in the steamer?

MistressMary · 24/02/2006 22:56

olbas oil in the steamer is the only way that works for me.
I had a nasty flu several years back and had blocked tubes. Really bad earache.
In fact got a cold now and just about to steam now.
