Mumps?

Has anyone had mumps as an adult?

I've been feeling a bit off colour for the last couple of days.

This morning I've woken up with a painful swelling under my left jaw. The swelling is visible.

Could it be mumps?

We have a lady at work who is about 12 weeks pregnant - should I take tomorrow off and see the gp just incase?

Other symptoms are mild nausea, slight loss of appetite and mild headache.

Thanks

DH had it when ds was 1 - the swelling was huge, and not just under his jaw, but both sides up his face. It was fairly unmistakeable tbh

I've got mumps at the moment. I woke up last Wednesday with swollen glands under my right ear and jaw - it looked horrendous. I had a huge moon face on one side. My symptoms were mainly tiredness, slight tummy ache and fever. It's gone down today so I look almost normal.

I'd suggest talking with your GP, apparently it's really contagious so I didn't go in. Mumps is notifiable, so I received a package from the Health Protection Agency and had to take a cheek swab for testing. I'll find out in a few weeks whether it's mumps or not.

My GP was suspicious I had Mumps last year, felt generally unwell and huge swelling to one side of jaw.

Work in healthcare so was signed off and sent a swab kit via public health.

Turns out it wasn't mumps.

Thanks for the replies :)

It was the first thing that came to mind tbh. The swelling isn't huge, but you can see a difference compared to the other side.

It feels full iykwim, and where the left side is swollen, it hurts when I turn my head to the left.

Paracetamol hasn't helped, and I still feel out of sorts, can't explain how, just not right.

I think I will see how it goes and call the gp in the morning if no better.

Actually, should I ring nhs direct?

Also, should I stay home from work tomorrow until I have spoken to someone?

God I feel lousy.

Feel sick, tired, headachey, sides of my jaw and under my jaw, kind of at the corners and all the way along. Up the side of the jaw joint hurts too and both sides a little puffy.

Stabbing pains in my pelvic area too.

What's wrong with me?

Waiting for GP to call Sad
