Lump on lower jaw???

I have a large lump on my lower jaw, it's painless and immobile. Been to the doc who had no idea, just back from the dentist who took an X-ray and gave me some antibiotics. He 'thinks' it is maybe an abscess. Anyone else have any ideas?

I am going to go out of my mind with worry before I go back to the dentist on Wednesday.

Depends what you call 'large'. I had a lump just under my jaw about 4 years ago - doc thought it might be blocked saliva 'duct' (think that was term used) but didnt really respond to anti biotics etc. Originally varied in size (got bigger then smaller) which gave me idea it wad hormonal but after about 4 months it just stayed around size of large marble. No pain.

Had very strong anti biotocs in the end - no one is sure to this day what it was as DD accidently hit me just in the right spot which 'burst' it (under the skin - gross but not as bad as it might have been Shock) and it deflated over next day or two. I do have a scar as skin was stretched and im not as young ad I was but it is under the jaw.

If you dont have pain I would doubt it is absess - would think its a cyst or whatever mine was - so may go down of its own accord. If its painfull it will be an absess I guess, and will respond to treatment/antibiotic.

Try not to worry - if it was something 'nasty' they would have known what it was straight away I should think Thanks
