Injection site, help???!!

Hi all. Looking for any paeds health care professionals or anyone in the know about paediatric injection techniques.
My dd has just had her second lot of imms and I am slightly concerned about the injection technique that the nurse used.
Firstly she did not pull back on the syringe to make sure she wasn't in a vein secondly the injection site was really posterior on her leg on the lower aspect of her hamstring just above her knee.
Am I missing something? Is this reasonable practice in paeds? Cause I would fail a student for it in adult practice. Don't really want to cause problems but this is the second time it's happened tia

According to a friend of mine (achtung: hearsay) you no longer pull back in pediatric vaccine administration. However, the application site seems very odd to me. I found this (pdf) from the CDC:
