This may be lengthy so please bear with me! Smile Have had a scalp tenderness for the last 10 days. This had been accompanied by headache on the left side of my head, with a pain in my eyeball and tenderness around my eye socket and temple area. The headache has eased off a lot but my scalp and an area of skin over my left side of my forehead feels like its 'burning' and tender to touch. It is doesnt hurt apart from when i touch it. The pain is not bad enough to take painkillers at the moment - more irritating.

However when I first got it was bad enough for me to use ice packs! I have seen my gp - who sent me for blood tests as they thought It may be imflammation. All the blood came back fine except for ferritin (?iron). I should mention that I will be having ops for cataracts - and had my Pre-assement just before the headaches started. During taking measurements I had to keep my eyes wide open for quite a while without blinking. Also was managing with one contact lens for a month (and I am extremely shortsighted).

I think with too much time on my hands I am thinking all sorts (have already scared myself shitless with google). The rational part of me says it's probably muscular but the garrity anxious part of me wants to run off to a&e!
Thanks for reading

I get headaches which sound very similiar when I have sinusitis. Sinusitis can be sparked off with a cold or infection or even hayfever or dust.

Superfly - I've had similar skin pain on my chest. Sucks huh?

My bloods came back with low bit B12 which I had a jab for a week later.

If you google neuropathy you will see it can be related to deficiencies in certain vitamins or minerals - possibly you have something similar?

Thanks for replying . Did think it may be sinusitis - have had it before but it's the scalp tenderness which is bugging me - as can't even comb my hair!

Is it painful if you press on your sinuses? It sounds a lot like the pain I have and it is sinus related. Maybe try a sinus relief product?

amillionyears · 05/06/2012 18:48

Could be migraine? but prob not.
One half my head is tender to touch, but dont notice it much unless hairdresser massages hard when washing it.

I have very long hair, it has been in a french plait the last 2 days as that way I do not have to brush it for a day or two Blush

See if steam inhalation and warmth help. If it does, it's probably sinusitis. Try taking ibuprofen regularly for a few days to relieve the inflammation. When I first started with sinusitis I didn't realise what it was and suffered for months. I didn't expect to have forehead and socket pain and there was no sneezing or anything. The sinuses are fairly large spaces and the pain can be quite widespread.

I had an incredibly tender & tingly right side of scalp cold alongside an intermittent ear ache( which felt more like wisdom type tooth ache). The practice nurse checked my ear and it was blocked; once treated with olive oil and syringing the ear ache and the odd scalp sensation went.I can only assume that the horrible gunk in my ear was pressing on a facial/head nerve. Might be worth getting your ears checked?

I get something like that when I am run down. I always think it is a viral/nerve thing, like that the nerve is irritated or inflamed or something. A few days of ibuprofen and it's all gone.
