Last week I posted that I am having pain in my right breast. I have going mad examining myself every 5 minutes. My husband thinks he can feel something but says it just feels like bone but differenet to the otherside. To me it feels like rib but agree that it sticks out and seems more promient than the oneside. Anyone else got this? Could it be inflamation if I have Tietz syndrome? Please help me as I am going out of my mind. Supposed to be getting ready for family dinner but keep googling instead.

it might be that one of your breasts is a bit smaller ? then the ribs might seem more prominent...I gather Tietz syndrome is to do with the costal cartileges ? so possibly a slight swelling ? I should stop googling as that just makes for more anxiety and see your gp for some reassurance. Smile

I have Tietze, and sometimes i feel the pain in my breast too. With any lump you should see a dr just to make sure all is well, they may even refer you to a breast clinic but that doesnt mean its anything to worry about, it could still be Tietzes Smile Have you been coughing or doing any hard work/lifting/pushing/pulling? my Tietzes plays up when i push the pushchair & i have children holding on to it too (mine is recurring)

Thanks Stomp. I do have a cough at the moment so this could be making it worse I guess but I have had this pain on and off for some time. I am constantly rocking my rather chubby 2 year old to sleep so I guess this could be the cause. How was tietz diagnosed for you?

You should certainly get this checked out by a doctor. If you haven't noticed this "sticking out" bit before then that is a lump and it needs to be checked. There is never any benefit to "waiting and seeing" when it comes to an unexplained lump!

Hi Just thought I would give you an update. Been to see the GP. Started blubbing as soon as got into see him. Very nice and gave me an examination. He reasured me that I have a more promient rib on the right side. Apparently slight deformity from birth but now my breasts are more saggy it is more obvious. Could feel no lumps so suggested that is a muscle strain and to take nurofen and a buy a good non wired supportive bra. Happy to see me in a months time if no better... Does this sound ok?

Great news that you got it checked out, and great news that it seems OK! :)

I have this - one rib on one side sticks out a bit. My dad and ds (but not dd) have the same thing so I guess it's a heriditory malformation! I've known about it since I was small so it's never panicked me, but you're not alone Smile

doggiemumma · 10/06/2012 17:44

sounds good, so glad you went to the docs and put your mind at rest. You WILL make your breasts sore if you keep self examining all the time (i know i did this and they were so tender ) I suffer from HA and i was literally doing it all the time (even in tesco Blush)

Just to add, a breast surgeon once told me it was quite normal for people to have a breast-level rib that sticks out more on one side than t'other.

Goodness knows why Confused
