Scars and surrounding area

Anyone who knows about scars around? I had my varicose veins removed at the start of June, and have scars just above my knees and the tops of my calves where the lower veins were hoiked out (and scars in my groin where they were taken out at the top, but those scars seem to be behaving ok).

The scars on my legs are red, as I would expect. There is then what looks like some white stretch mark/scar types things, and some of the scars are white around then. But then the skin in the creases at the backs of my knees is really dark coloured! What's that from? Secondly, I can still see the outline of where the square dressings were stuck on my calves after my operation - why can I still see them?! Confused

I'm worried my skin is healing freakishly slowly or doing weird stuff or something......

This is entirely normal. I would recommend rubbing on vitamin E cream to encourage new skin growth and to keep the skin softer (scarred skin can be dry and taut without help). You cannot expect a scar to show it's 'finished' appearance for at least a year. Intermittent colouring is to be expected too. Don't worry :)

It's normal. I have scars on my leg from been run over 10 years ago. It's white now.

The outline will fade eventually its just an imprint.

Phew, thanks people! Grin. I couldn't believe that dressings that were on for less than a week nearly three months ago could still be showing an imprint! And the colouring is just odd. I have bio-oil stuff that I'm using so hopefully that will help a little.

Thanks!

It is weird. I had imprints on my leg for ages. If want to see what scar looks like after a ten year I can show you a picture so you know what to expect.

For first couple of year mine was red and purple! Looked bruised. Now they are more white, they are easy to see but white.

I didn't use bio oil or anything but wish I did
