Advice on the mini pill

Hi

After having 2 kids I get really horrible heavy periods so was thinking of going on the mini pill as I heard that it makes your periods lighter or disappear. It's been years since I was on the pill so can't really remember now. I'm going on holiday on Friday and I know that my period is due first week of holiday - so if I start taking it this week (before my period is due) will the effect kick in before my period starts? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

ive been on the mini pill for years, they say it does take 7 days to work properly, so it may be able to shift/lighten your period after the weekend?!

the mini-pill can make periods unpredictable and can cause more bleeding rather than less. I had fortnightly periods with femulen and micronor (both mini-pills) but cerazette stopped them completely. I wouldnt rely on it to stop your period/make it lighter for your holiday.

p.s. Norethisterone can be used to help with heavy periods

I take that, Seonoa. ITs good stuff for heavy periods! (mine is called Noriday)

Thanks for the useful info. Do you get any side affects from Norethisterone?

I use a mini pill called Cerazette. It's fantastic - I haven't had a period or any type of bleed at all for 18 months and the doctor says that's normal with this pill. Loving it!

Cerazette stopped my periods altogether aswell

I had Micronor and went from a size 12 to a size 16 in 3 months, stopped it and went back to a 12 Shock I hated it!
