Does anyone else get an itchy rash after exposure to the sun the first couple of times in spring/summer? If so are there any ways to stop it happening that you know of? It really takes the shine off enjoying the nice weather for me!

I do get this and use a mineral based sun screen that physically blocks the sun from the skin. This really helps.

Am sat here covered in itchy bumps betwixt collarbones and boobs as we speak. Looks horrible. Am just glad it's only the first few days that it seems to happen and then stops. I use mild steroid cream on it and have a silky long scarf that I can cover the area with if Im out and can feel the itching starting. Also the scarf covers the spots up which I need because they look nasty.

I take an antihistamine called Telfast on prescription. For best effect you need to take it before first exposure though. Also good quality sunscreen with 5 star UVA cover as well as UVB.

My GP said that betacarotene can help too but I don't want to turn orange so haven't tried that.

It can also be hormone related so pregnancy and the pill can make it worse. Much sympathy.
