be VERY careful! This happened to me twice: first time DH went ON and ON about a stomach ache. I was sympathetic for a while, then told him it was trapped wind and made him eat dried apricots, and then snapped and told him if he wanted to know anything about abdominal pain he should try being in labour and stop being a wuss. His slightly gangrenous appendix was removed the following morning.
Second time he had a bad cough. So did I, so did dd. Again he went on and on about it and I ignored it. His mother marched him to the GP who diagnosed pneumonia!

I'm sure he is fine, just make sure you don't make any really smart sarcastic comments which just MIGHT come back to haunt you for the next 10 years!

What really scares me is that if DH got really seriously ill, I don't think I would believe him. I'm so used to him acting like he is dying, I take no notice anymore.....

lalaa · 03/12/2003 22:04

yes yes yes
DH has the stomach bug I had 4 days ago. Just wants his mum to come round and look after dd tomorrow while I go to work - yet I had to soldier on when he was away...........

dh was ill last year. i thought it was just a cold and told him to get on with it. two weeks later he was still ill, so phoned his mum to take him to a+e. he had (still has) dilated cardiomyopathy. if he hadnt been taken to a+e that day, he would have gone in in a worse state, possibly not alive.
he spent 2 weeks on cardio ward, having oxygen, wasnt allowed to move, and left the hospital with large perscription that he still has to take today. he is possibly going to have to have a heart transplant.

all because of a cold/flu like symptons.

now i send him packing off to the gp's at the slightest sniffle.

My dh falls in to this category because he is just plain unlucky. He never catches a common cold its always the plague or ebola.

My dp soldiers on with Ostentatious Bravery, which is actually equally annoying.

Northerner · 04/12/2003 14:53

LOL Crystaltips! My dh is exactly the same as yours. He too ponders over the dosage of pills. 'Can I take a beechams powder with Nurofen?' 'What can I take to unblock my nose'
He sits on the sofa constantly moaning about his aching head and his blocked up nose. He rings me at work and demands I buy throat lozenges, lucozade and Vicks vapour rub. He blows his nose incessantly, and is a NIGHTMARE to sleep with. I give him no sympathy because he is too annoying.

My dh is like that, MI. He never complains, prefers to cough than suck a sweetie or take some cough medicine. He has had quite bad arthritis for about 10 yrs and I have only just this year got him to take ibuprofen for it. When I asked if it had helped he said he didn't know, but it was less painful to move and do physical things. D'oh!

My bro, otoh, has flu at least three times a year. One day he'll really be sick and no one will take any notice.
