'Grumbling' Appendix - what have been your outcomes?

Hi - just spent a couple of days in hospital with this, according to docs. At home now, pain greatly reduced, but still very tender and feeling a bit off.

Is this likely to be the last of it or should I keep a bag packed?

Thanks for any advice/info/experiences.

Mine grumbled for about 4 or 5 years in my teens.

Then it had a massive huge temper tantrum and had to be removed.

Ditto my daughter - rumbled from age 10 to 14 - then severe pain and removal.

Thanks Duke and Grimble- looks like I better keep my hospital bag packed for the next 4 to 5 years then, Grin

'fraid so. The acute phase was very unpleasant at the time - but at least it's not something that recurs.

Have dealt with the acute kind in youngest DD, but not the chronic one. At least I know what to expect now - thanks.

Mine grumbled once when I was 12 for a few days. That was it

Have they given you antibiotics? There is some new research saying that antibiotics can work as well as removal.

Mine grummbled for a couple of years, I didn't know what it was, until my mum got fed up of me 'trying to get off school' and took me to the Dr, I was admitted that morning and operated on the day after.

Mine grumbled for a terrible week, lots of lovely intravenous antibiotics and 10 years later it still hasn't bothered me.

Thanks sashh and lizcat - no I've not been given anti-biotics just painkillers. Feeling reasonable today, just tender over appendix. Maybe anti-bs would have given me a better chance to ward off an acute episode - oh well I guess I've still got that to look forward to at some point - great.
