Mid cycle bleeding

I'm spotting bright red blood today and I've no idea why. LMP started 8 May and was normal. DH has been nursing a head cold for the last few days, so we haven't had sex for several days. I've tucked a piece of toilet paper "inside" to confirm that the blood is definitely coming from "inside."

What could it be?

What age are you? If approaching menopause it could be quite normal - my cycle is all over the place.

I'm in my mid 40s, but my periods are still as regular as they've always been.

I have just had this ( am 31, so hope not menopause yet). Am on day 11 of cycle and spotting today and yesterday. Have googled and all seems related to menopause or the pill - which it cannot be for me. Think a trip to the docs may be in order?

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2012 21:16

I had this - early-mid 40's. Twice investigated and found very small polyps in my uterus which were removed with day op's.

However, I think it could have been more to do with oncoming menopause.

You should go and see the GP really.

I'm not on the pill and it's almost 20 years since I was on the pill, so it's not that.

It's possibly what I had then, or something to do with the menopause - your periods go completely bananas (as well as your mind)Angry!

Please go and see your doctor. I was 39 and had 1 mid cycle bleed. Saw the dr in the August, had a complete hystrectomy in the December.

Biffnbuster sorry to hear that, if you don't mind me asking, what tests did they do when you went to the docs?

I'm 30 and I'm having this problem too. Got a doctor's appointment for Monday. I think it's just hormonal issues after coming off the pill, and also I have an ectropion (sp?) but I want to make sure I get tested for everything that might need testing as we want to try for another baby soon. I had a smear test last year which was fine, and last time I went to the doctor about this problem she said there wasn't any point doing another smear as the last one was quite recent.

I always had painful periods, saw the doc a few times over the years but not much done, had pills a few times, thought that was the way it was !!
The doc did an internal and smear straight away and could feel "something". I had blood tests and scans. Can't remember what they were in particular. Turned out I had fibroids, a cyst on one ovary and after the op was told I had sticky endemetrieous (sp). No wonder I suffered for so long. After suffering every 3 weeks (from start to start, so not many days clear) for so many years it was great to be rid !! I would say to anyone to get it checked out asap, especially if wanting a baby.

Ugh poor you, that sounds way worse than what's happening with me. I am going to see the doctor (again) though. What fun!
