Delayed vaccinations - will DS need all missed ones?

DS is 14 months and I have delayed all vaccinations. Health viditor said he will need all missed jabs even though certain diseases are only of higher risk in the early months. Would be grateful for advice.

hi sh77,

your health visitor is not quite right, because if you start vaccinating in the second year, you don't need as many doses of the shots:

The 5 in 1 (DTaP/IPV/hib) get 3 (instead of 4), the first two two months apart, the third 6 to 8 months after the second - you are then set until school entry (so age 4.5 years rather than the 3 years 4 months that are recommended).

MenC - you just need one dose

Pneumococcal vaccine - two if you want to do it, 6 months apart

MMR stays the same - two needed, best one now and one before school entry.

If you want to go ahead with the whole lot, I can help you set up a schedule...
