First period after birth, tampons uncomfortable

Did anyone else find tampons uncomfortable/painful after giving birth?

The birth was ventouse with an episiotomy almost 8 weeks ago, and the episiotomy is still a little uncomfortable. Wondering if it's that which is making the tampons feel sore?

I had a normal birth with no intervention and I still can't use tampons and ds is 7! I use a mooncup and I find it much better.

I couldn't use tampons until a few months after I stopped breastfeeding (about 2 years)
