Flared ribs?

Hi, does anyone have any knowledge / experience of flared ribs after having a baby? DS is 14 months now, and the bottom of my ribs still protrude very badly since having him. I'm only small, and DS was a fairly big baby so presume it happened because he was forced up under my ribs (lack of space in my abdomen) but its just not getting better.

What, if anything, can be done? Also, I'm planning another baby in a few years, should I wait until after this to visit the dr? It's not painful, just looks awful and I'm struggling to get used to a post-baby body anyway without having huge stuck-out ribs as well as stretchmarks etc Smile

Hiya my baby was a big one at 10lbs1 and my rib age didn't finally settle back to almost pre pg size until around I recall 16months - my body took a very long time to get back to normal but I didn't find any drs who understood. It might be worth seeking a Physio through your dr, it might also be that your posture is out of balance and thus showing your ribs as protruding? I had one years worth of Physio for pho/spd and then 10 sessions with a structural practitioner called a Rolfing practitioner, this really really played a big part in my recovery and this was serious work done on my body. However im sure if you could see an osteopath this would help you?

Wow, I didn't realise it could take so long to get back to normal! I don't think it is my posture (1 side is worse than the other, and I am consciously trying to stand up straight to look slimmer Smile ). It's good to know things can be done about it though, even if I have to argue to make a dr take it seriously! Thankyou for replying!
