Cyst on my Scaphoid Bone - Any ideas?

Saw a specialist today about a problem with my wrist. He said that I have a cyst on my scaphoid bone. I've tried googling it but all I get are technical sites aimed at medical professionals.

What I'm trying to find out is 1) What could have caused it? 2) Is it likely to be causing the issues with my wrist? 3) What are the likely outcomes i.e. can it be fixed and if so, how?

If anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be grateful. I've been virtually unable to use my right hand for 5 months and I'm slowly going insane - I can't even do up my bra fgs!

My friend just had surgery to remove a cyst there. It grew and grew until it was so unsightly, she thought, she had it removed. She was off work and immobile for couple of weeks, couldn't drive etc. All fine now. It was removed under GA.

You can't see mine as it is literally part of the bone (he showed me a dark area on the xray) - did hers grow so it made the skin swell or something?
