I debated for years whether to do it, have had a bunion for 10 years, since I was 37 and it got increasingly worse. I looked into bunion surgery, I never realised it was such a big deal!
I spent the first week drugged up on Tramodil, never again will I take that, felt so ill. I have been getting about on crutches, but had to elevate my leg as much as possibe to help the swelling go down.
I still have a bandage and have got a lush blue surgical shoe. I am now hobbling about the house, have even had a lift down the pub in my sexy shoe! I am a bit housebound now as dh is away for 3 weeks. I have got a sicknote for 6 weeks but go back to hospital on 1st June for an x ray to see how much the bones have healed. So far so good, can get out and about a bit at the weekend, so am resting as much as possible to help the swelling go down. When the Dr took the bandage of my foot I was so impressed how straight my foot was and the stitches weren't too bad. Hopefully I will one day be able to wear nice shoes again, other than ugg boots and trainers!
