took ds to gp this pm as was unsure if he had chest infection or not.She thinks he has influenza b as his temp is so high.Luckily steroids have kept his asthma at bay.

How long till his temp goes down?Have tried cooling him and capol but it's still 40.2

Dd had it a couple of weeks ago, her temperature was very high for the first day and night, quite high for the second day and normal after that. The whole thing lasted about a week - but be aware that it comes and goes, and you'll think he's better only for him to go back downhill again.

Hope he feels better soon, it's a nasty one.

Have you tried calpol and Nurofen for chilfren together? a luke warm bath may help aswell, and if you have a fan have it facing him a few feet away.

unfortunately nurofen makes his asthma worse.Have put a flannel on him but he got all cross,so a bath wouldn't go down well. He's fallen asleep .

I was going to say strip him off, no clothes and no covers, open a window and lay a flannel (not cold!) on his forehead but if he's asleep I'd leave him now.

It might be worth mentioning that dd had awful hallucinations with her high temperature; she's prone to them with a fever, but it seems that it's quite common to get them with this flu.

dd is just getting over this and has been poorly for about 11 days. The fever, sleeping, not eating bit lasted for about 4 days. The cough started soon after.

She is now on the mend, eating loads but still rather weak and easily tired. Still has dark circles under her eyes. She is 4.10 and I have never seen her so knocked back by an illness.

Depends how old your ds is before I would go back to the GP
