Hi.

Well last night my partner and I were messing around and he leant back on my wrist (my hand was bent down so it was literally on the wrist bone). It was really sore last night and hurt to move it, felt like I wanted to hold it in place and I didnt move it much all night.

This morning its still the same, I have movement in my wrist but when I move it I can feel it cracking and grinding inside. In certain position it hurts but it hurts more up my arm, in my elbow and upper arm, like a throbbing.

There isnt any swelling and dont think there is bruising.

What should I do, I said to OH we should go to the walk in centre to get it checked.

how do you know it is not broken? wrist bones can have tiny breaks and need immediate treatment to prevent long tyerm probs. I had a torn ligament and they took a while to decide this is what it was. Had an operation too.

You need an xray. And some drugs :)

I agree with OH, or go to A&E. There's a few things you could have done: avulsion fracture is when the tendon is pulled and breaks off the bone, taking a little bone with it: a fracture or a pulled tendon. It's best to get it checked.

Unless you have x-ray vision you can't know it is definitely not broken! Being able to move your fingers does not mean it is ok. You do need to go and get it checked and x-rayed. Good luck.

ok thank you. So walk in centre or straight to A&E? I have taken some pain killers. I really cant have it in cast!!! Fingers crossed its not broken.

You need an x ray so, unless they have one in the walk in centre, I'd go to A&E. If they think it's a scaphiod fracture then you'll need to go back for a repeat x ray in about 10 days as this is when a fracture will show up.

oh dear, and if its nothing i will look like an idiot and feel like i hve wasted everyones time!

No, not at all. It's better to get it checked then to leave a fracture. I trained as a radiographer for a while, please get it checked.

pepperrabbit · 06/05/2012 11:33

I'd definitely get it checked out. I ignored pain in my wrist for a long time, when I finally went to the drs cos I could no longer peg out washing Hmm I had eroded most of the cartilege. Two years in a splint followed by an operation.
Better to be safe than sorry!

DS2 fractured his wrist on the Saturday. I didn't find out til the Wednesday when I thought he was still in a bit of pain Blush so I took him to minor injuries. It was a greenstick fracture or 'buckle'.

SpiffingWeatherForDucks · 06/05/2012 14:02

Have you been npg1? What was the verdict?

LadySybilDeChocolate · 06/05/2012 18:56

How are you, OP? Smile

LadySybilDeChocolate · 08/05/2012 22:58

OP! HOW'S YOUR WRIST?

pepperrabbit · 09/05/2012 12:56

Maybe it's too poorly to type...

SpiffingWeatherForDucks · 09/05/2012 22:11
