I've had friends say things like "the Pill sent me loopy" without them really specifying in what respect, which I imagine could inclue anger!. If you really think the Pill is responsible, then I think it's worth coming off it or swapping to a different type - as you should know relatively soon whether it appears to be the Pill that's causing it. I had awful PMT (verging on clinical depression) when I was on the mini-pill, which cleared up as pretty much as soon as I stopped taking it.

Hmmm don't think I was more angry. I sometimes think it made me depressed but was never sure so I have gone back on it to see.

Hormones are very powerful things.

I took the pill, but found it didnt quash my PMT symptoms, one of which was severe bouts of aggression/depression over a couple of days....

I had a touch of depression with every pill except yasmin, had no side effect what so ever whilst taking this.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/02/2006 23:14

Oh no! I had the opposite. Having children has improved mine drastically. Although i am still b/feeding so i havent had af for a good 18 months now

YorkieGirl, the reason I cannot take the Pill is that this is exactly what it used to do to me! Before the pill I was a happy carefree University student, when I got on the pill I became a demented, abusive, vile person. It was dh (then bf) who put 2 and 2 together, luckily we'd been friends for ages so he knew who I really was. I came off the pill and it was like someone flicked a switch and back came my personality! I've not touched it since, nor will I.

It does say on the instructions that it can cause depression, I guess everyone's depression comes out differently!

Rhubarb · 14/02/2006 14:14

Hello Dottie!

Kelly1978 · 14/02/2006 14:16

I'm the same as Rhubarb! I wouldn't ever try it again, won't risk it.

Rhubarb · 14/02/2006 14:17

However not taking it is also the reason I became pregnant for the very first time, turning the whole course of my life upside down and revealing a very different kind of depression to me!

Kelly1978 · 14/02/2006 14:29

lol, I have twins because of not taking it. Thought that the cap would be perfect - no hormones at all. No bloody protection neither tho!

Bugsy2 · 14/02/2006 14:30

Microgynon is one of the cheapest pills for GPs to prescribe, so it is very commonly used. You should go back to your GP and they can put you on a different pill with a different hormone balance to try and lessen your feelings of aggression.

Rhubarb · 14/02/2006 14:33

It's the one I used too, microgynon.

Kelly - we used condoms (still do! argh!)

Kelly1978 · 14/02/2006 14:40

Oh, don't say that. That's what we do now, and I was hoping that would be more reliable. Did you ever think about the injection? I've been advised to try that, but it's still hormones, and I don't want to risk it.

Rhubarb · 14/02/2006 14:41

Done the injection - it just shut down my sex drive altogether, maybe that's how it works!!!!

It's never affected me like that but one of my friends did. She had an argument with her boyfriend which ended in him cowering in the bedroom with a chair wedged under the door handle and her trying to batter the door down, jack Nickelson style, with a hammer. She showed me the door a few days later and it was completely splintered with huge holes in it- very scary.

I was very unstable on the pill, prior to children a just felt very down whilst on it and felt loads better when I came off it again but after DS1 was born I though I would try it again and my behaviour was very scary.
