And he refuses to let me put a cool compress on it. He just had what seemed to be an average head bonk when we were shopping for shoes a couple of hours ago, but within seconds this enormous lump came up and it is sickening to look at. I gave him some Tylenol and he seems to be in decent spirits, but I just feel that I should be doing more.

Any advice?

Poor thing. Arnica cream is good for bruises. I would try the cold compress to keep swelling down& obviously watch him tonight

Oh, good idea. I tend to get really freaked out with things like this and find it hard to think of what to do.

nuerofen is good for swelling too, the chap is sporting a rather large bump on his head too.... something in the water making them all fall over....

Will definitely keep that in mind, too. Yes, he's handling the whole thing much better than I am

Had something similar with a friends child. I was so calm - scooped him up - immediate cold compress etc. If it had been my DS I would have been running round & hysterical

Yes, isn't it funny? I deal with all sorts of nasty things at the office - corneal ulcers and so forth - and then I just lose it when something happens with ds.
