Lost tampon?

Feeling like a complete idiot here. Just before school run I went to toilet removed my last tampon and I am fairly sure I put a new one in. 6 hours later go to remove it and there's no string. I have no idea if I forgot to put one in or if the string has somehow come off or been sucked up there! I am freaking out at the thought of TSS. Had a feel around but can't find anything but DH has kindly informed me that I'm "huge" up there and it could be there.

Is it possible it's up there and I can't find it? Feel such an idiot and a bit scared too.

If you squat down & slightly push it should move closer to the opening & you can grab it with your fingers. It can't get in through the cervix. You might have just forgotten. Can you see if the wrapping is in the bin? If you are still unsure then you will need to see a dr/ nurse. They will use the opener thing that they use for a smear test & have a look. The nurse should beable to do it for you.

It could still be up there judging by my experience am afraid! I don't often use tampons but my periods had been heavy so I bought some last year. A week after my period ended I noticed this vile smell that I just couldn't wash away. I'd also got a newish partner so I was panicked that I'd somehow got some dread infection and went to the GP. She said she'd do an internal. A second later she pulled out a horrible pongy tampon. Sorry TMI. I had absolutely NO idea as I wasn't sore or itchy or anything.

If you aren't sure I would go to the GP and let them check. She gave me a course of antibiotics afterwards to prevent/treat any infection that might have started. She said she'd only ever seen this twice (and she's not that young!). I was sooooooooooo embarrassed but I'm glad I went and that I hadn't ended up with toxic shock or something dangerous.

I went to the drs and I obviously hadn't put one in or had taken it out and forgotten!! But the dr did say she sees on average one woman a week with the same thing so I didn't feel quite so stupid!!

Well done you for braving the doctors.

Better safe then risk something like Toxic Shock. Glad you're sorted.
