Rib area injury - trouble swallowing!

Hello wise MNers Smile

I did myself an injury in the rib/back area in the garden a few days ago. (I'm not sure how I did it, I was digging a tiny hole trench but didn't really feel anything until the evening). I thought nothing of it as it didn't seem serious and went on to do a Shred session the next day, after which it was agony!

It feels better than it did, but it hurts when I swallow, at just about the point of the breastbone.

Has anyone had something similar before? I would never have thought an injury like this would cause pain in swallowing?

The lovely posters on the Shred thread that I'm on said that rib injuries can be painful, but I haven't really got pain when breathing / chest pain, just this swallowing thing and pain when I twist my torso.

If anyone can shed some light or has experinced anything similar I'd be very grateful to hear from you Smile

from experience, damage to ribs is agony , breathing, laughing, sneezing, standing up/down , whatever you do your whole body is involved,if you can do all the aforementioned and, ! try touching your toes, if not in extreme pain , rib damage unlikely. pain when swallowing would have me at A&E , just to be sure.
