The pill and periods

My periods whilst off the pill were very painful but very short and light.

Yesterday when my period arrived, i started taking the pill again and now my period today is really heavy, really not like usual at all.

Is this normal, and is it cos of the pill ??

blimey I wouldn't have thought that just one tablet of the Pill would have had that much of an effect, but my periods off the Pill have always been loads heavier on the Pill, so it wouldn't have been noticeable anyway! Have you ever taken the Pill before?

Have had some clots too, pea sized (TMI sorry).

Wondering if the pill is making my womb have a god clear out or something.

I have taken the pill before and tbh I don't remember this.

Just had a read of the leaflet and it says bleeding between periods is common until the body adjusts to the pill so maybe this is normal too.

If it gets any worse I will try and get to the docs.

What was the reason for going back on the pill? Was it for your periods in the first place?

nutcracker · 12/02/2006 20:07

It was mainly because my periods are so painful and also that i get bad spots when i'm not on it.

Could go back to drs then? although maybe give it a few months (the 3 months worth you probably have been given) to see if they settle and then consider changing it for a different one. All of the different pills work slightly differently so there should be one for you!

Good idea, thanks Flossam
