DS drank some Cillit Bang on Thursday night.

...and we spent the night in the local children's ward.

I feel such an idiot. I cleaned the bathroom and while doing so found my DH toothbrush mug which looked as though it had never, ever been cleaned inside. Instead of just wiping it out like any normal person I squirted some Cillit Bang in there meaning to rinse it out after 10 mins or so. Forgot and then at 6pm DS found it and thought it was juice. Drank it and was promptly sick. Thankfully there would have been no more than 10mls in there. I rang NHS Direct who said he needed to go to A+E for a check over. Thankfully I remembered to take the bottkle with me and they were able to get loads of stuff off the internet about it.
Although DS was fine they decided to keep him overnight for observation and off we went to the children's ward where I had to admit that I was a health visitor
Thank goodness DS is fine - the consultant felt that the stuff would be so disgusting that the chances of him actually ingesting any was minimal and we came home via Tescos where he got a guilt present of a Buzz Lightyear toy from Mummy.

Oh bless you. It does happen, you know that, and he won't remember the time mummy let him drink Cillit Bang, he will remember getting Buzz Lightyear toy. That is the point of guilt presents!

Don't worry. DS ended up with a mouthful of paint yesterday. Was cleaning out cleaning cupboard, ironically, to reduce the number of products DS might try to drink/eat. Phoned NHS direct and he has been fine.

Glad your DS is ok, I was lucky not to have to admit over the phone that I was a nurse !

At least he was sick straight away. How scary for you though!

dd1 drank perfume once, when she was about 2 and got drunk, she had to be checked over at hospital as well

I think they all have a go at something,dd drank lavendar oil, roughly about 10 mls last summer, imagine how i felt having to take her to hospital,i work there!!! We went through a&e then up to childrens ward,im a bank nurse so work all over the hospital, imagine having to go to 2 different areas all the time explaining no im not here for a shift but am in fact here with my 2 year old daughter who has drank half a bottle of lavendar oil
I had to make her drink a cupful of active charcoal(the thick black stuff they give to od's etc) so she was all black and smelling like a carden, lovely combination!!

I found dt1 sat on the kitchen floor munching her way through a washing tablet a few months ago.

I once found my dd1 spraying car windscreen de-icer into her little brother's hair as a 'conditioner' (I'd just done her's with the L'oreal Kids one)
Luckily it didnt go in his eyes but he did wonder why he was having his hair washed at 11am!
