Anyone know why this happens- not usually painful but constant crunching and clicking!?!

Which joints/bones?

buggyRunner · 27/04/2012 07:36

Most to be honest arms, legs, fingers, neck, hip, toes, jaw- crunching knees when in walk up stairs

Past few years gradually. I am fit and healthy but very creaky

Me too - creaky shoulders and hips mainly. Every time I do sit ups something crunches.

It doesn't hurt, just makes a strange noise.

There are normally two types of clicking normally in joints - a high pitched "click" and a lower "thud". The first is gas built up by pressure popping, normal and no problem. The second is your cartilage rubbing together and is to be avoided.

I get clicky knees these days. When I get from a chair you get a double volley of clicking. I think it old age. I have arthritic fingers which became obvious about the time my knees started to click so I think it is related.

It's just old age I think. Sad

On the plus side my dad has always had clicky knees or ankles. I can still hear him climbing the stairs in my head, clicking with every step. He is 82 now and hasn't had any problems with his joints so it isn't necessarily a terrible thing.

I have a very 'crunchy' neck! But I'm 24 so not sure it's just age with everyone. I just accepted it as one of those things Confused

I click and 'thunk' all over, I am hypermobile so have lax joints. Not sure exactly how they're related but i make noise all the time!

I sound like Chinese firecrackers going off when I get up. My back once cracked so loudly at work my friend opposite thought I'd snapped a pencil.

Me too - click and clunk in nearly every joint and sometimes the clicks hurt a bit. My physio (for my hip - the one joint that causes me 'real' pain) tells me it is perfectly normal.
