smear test appointment gone wrong

At my smear test today the nurse couldn't find my cervix. After some uncomfortable minutes of trying she gave up and told me to re-book and do some star jumps before going in next time.

I had a baby last autumn by emcs. Tests before baby have been easy. I don't want another appointment like that one because it hurt a bit and didn't used to.

So, what can I do before the next appointment to make it go better, and why would star jumps help?

Have your periods started again? Mid cycle is the best time, as it is lower then. If your periods not restarted then maybe it is higher. Not sure the point of star jumps though. Maybe get your pelvic floor to completely give up?

Right, ok, no my periods haven't started yet. Still doing 1 bf a day and no sign of returning to normal yet. If I need pelvic floor to give up then will start to curse all those who got me to do pelvic floor exercises!

I have this problem, it's from giving birth. My cervix has also had surgery so was difficult to find before children! Last smear took 3 visits with 3 different doctors to get. Now, I have to book in with the gynae expert at our surgery for every smear as she's the only one who can see it!

This happened to me a few years back when my practice nurse couldnt find my cervix for a smear test. I ended up having one at my local hospital where they inserted a little camera to look for it.

I just put it down to the fact I'd been doing lots of exercises and being healthy that year. Had no problem with it since.

That's happened to me twice. The first time i was so freaked out that when she said she couldn't find my cervix, i blurted out "i had it when i came in". Felt such an idiot after! I've been ok ever since though.

Same here mine is hard to locate.
Hate smears because of all the faffing it takes for them to find it.
Older experienced practice nurse used to be in and out like a shot.... but last few have been struggling.......

Thanks for all the replies. I feel less weird now I know I'm not the only one! Haven't rebooked yet. Can't seem to keep away from that doctors surgery!!
