I have had a strange set of symptoms since Mid Feb and have a GP appointment tomorrow but I would like to see if anyone has experienced similar and if so, what was the cause?

pains in my stomach (upper not general abdo)
sporadic lower left abdo pain
sore thumb joints
sore bones / jaw
nausea and feeling as if I'm going to vomit, worse upon waking
lower back pain / aching
tearful
vaginal infection+pain
muscle pain
cold feet
IBS with smelly stools

I will go armed with this list but I am google- diagnosing and becoming more anxious by the hour, thank you in advance for any advice.

stop googling.

You are going to the gp to ask for advice. trust it. if not, then get a second opinion from another medically trained professional. A mumsnetter is better than googling if s/he is medically trained. Not if they are just a googler too.

There is a reason why you have to train for five years to become a doctor. If it could be done by googling, we'd all be self sufficient

I had symptoms like this a couple of months back, turned out to be a virus.

The IBS would probably be a separate issue unless perhaps you've not had the smelly wind before??? Though this could just be something you've eaten. A lot of things can trigger it. The infection can be caused by IBS too.

I too googled my symptoms and had everything from under active thyroid to colon cancer.

Try not to worry, but if the symptoms get worse call your out of hours GP.

Hope you feel better soon Smile

Thank you Loz.
I wasn't asking for a diagnosis but I am anxious alone and feeling unwell and thought that someone could offer some sensible advice or even reassurance. I would not rely on armchair medicine and am acutely aware of the committment involved in becoming a trained medic.

Wow - I've had most of those too since getting a nasty virus / flu thing a month ago. I've not really felt a whole lot better since. I'm hoping it is all related to that otherwise I'm definitely about to fall right off my perch! Hope you start to feel better soon

MunchkinsMumof2 · 24/04/2012 23:30

Thank you and I'll let you know LentillyFart how I get on and hope for both our sakes it's a god awful virus that's getting better asap.

I guess it didnt come out right. I was telling you to stop googling because it will cause nothing but misery as you will get all sorts of nasties as possibilities. If my post came accross as hard and horrible, I apologise. Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Saw GP who thinks I may have an infection that has caused reactive arthritis or Hepatits A, had blood taken and the delightful task of providing a stool sample.

He agreed with you notahappybunny and recommended stepping away from Google. I dont feel much better but more positive that tests are underway, hope you feel better soon too LentillyFart.

Thank you munchkin and do please keep us posted. Hope you get some answers

nothappybunny457 · 26/04/2012 09:00

hope it sorts itself out, and is nothing to worry about. sometimes things do.

ladyinthelibrary · 26/04/2012 09:04

The lower left abdo pain could be diverticulitis - I thought I had ovary cysts with similar pain but turned out to be diver.

How old are you?

Helps now that your doc is taking you seriously, many don't. Hope you get answers soon.
