Varicose veins - Should I go privately?

Hi
After my second pregnancy I've developed grim v veins from my knees to my ankles which rather scuppers skirt wearing. My GP has told me I can't get them treated on the NHS as it'd be purely cosmetic, so I wondered if anyone had done theirs privately, and if so, how much does it cost, and how do I go about finding a reputable surgeon?
Thank you
K

Hi there. Can't really help you as I don't know. I'm off to see my gp tomorrow about mine. It's grim isn't it. I'll let you know if I get anywhere. I wear a tubi grip thing all the time :(

I just had mine out 2 months ago at age 32, but then I've had mine since I was 16 and they eventually got bad enough that they would treat them on the NHS. It took a thrombophlebitis (inflamed surface vein with a blood clot in it!) to get me on the treatment list though! If they're bothering you to that extent, I'd consider going privately. Do you have health insurance through work or anything like that?
